Repetitive Strain Injury

Overuse injuries or Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) affect many thousands of workers in a wide variety of occupation and their prevalence has increased significantly over the past 20 years. Anyone who regularly undertakes repetitive physical movements or who is working in an unergonomic environment is potentially at risk.

The most important consideration is that prevention is better than cure. Workplaces and working practices should be assessed by competent risk assessors, changes made where necessary, and training given about posture, exercise and the importance of regular breaks.

Treatment and rehabilitation is most successful if there is an early and accurate diagnosis. Physiotherapy has been shown to be very effective. At the Ede Therapies you can expect a thorough assessment and treatment covering ergonomic and posture advice, symptom relief and pain management assistance, home exercise programmes and assistance on making a graduated return to work.

We recognise that conditions left untreated will become increasing chronic and can offer prompt intervention and treatment with no waiting lists or referral requirements.
